Roberti's paintings
Raimondo
Roberti was born on May 31st 1947 in Naples, Italy.
His efforts at painting brought him into the fold of a small group of painters
who all lived close by of the area of Naples in which he had grown up, and in
the vicinity of where he now lives. He developed a steadfast friendship
with the painter A.Alario, a successful artist who travelled frequently
to Paris and Milan, where much of his work was sold. He eventually took Roberti
under his tutelage. This situation allowed him to learn the craft from a master,
who being a generously minded individual, gave him the opportunity to sell his
paintings to his own clientele, as he was learning.
Roberti perseveres and succeeds in developing a style
uniquely, his own which incorporates the basic input instilled in him by Alario.
This had much in common with the free gestural approach of
the latter day Expressionists, alongside his own peculiar propensity for
careful drawing and rigorous prospective which he chooses to retrieve succeeding
in not losing the spontaneity and the energy of vigorous brushwork and vibrant
colours characteristic of his teacher.
Gradually over time, his work is deemed to be the most consistent in spirit and
execution with that of his mentor by his collectors and buyers who turn to
Roberti when they seek continuity in that specific manner.
This arrangement lasts long enough to establish his name in the
American, Nato and diplomatic or international community through word of mouth,
providing him with a continuous demand for commissioned paintings as well as
others.
At the present moment, though he continues to work and reside in Naples
he has resumed the habit of frequent travels to the States. On a recent visit to
the U.S.A. he became acquainted with Upstate New York and spent much of his time
to deepen his knowledge of the Hudson River School of Painting of which he has
always been an admirer.
Roberti is now happily
engaged in further developing and interpreting the formal and aesthetic
principles upon which these itinerant artists based their approach when called
upon to represent new and challenging vistas.
He held exhibitions in
several art galleries and private clubs obtaining critical consent and sales
success, especially with his coastscapes, that today enrich the walls of
prestigious art galleries in Beverly Hills.
