Ubaldo Ballerini was born in Fanano (Modena) in 1927. The influence of his native Emilia shows in the compact, warm colours, almost suggesting the fertile soil; Tuscany has contributed with the transparent, luminous resonances of certain light-effects. Thus during his oneiric journeys towards beloved spots the artist pursues also a thorough consciousness of himself, instilling most of his emotional power in all he sees, feels and reproduces. Seemingly the painter Ballerini tries to absorb the surroundings with the light hand and the rapidity owing to the impressionists or perhaps even more with discrete and unassuming rural peacefulness shown by the Macchiaioli School of 19^th century.
